Employee Spotlight: Kelly Dechaine

October 07, 2015

Kelly is one of the newest members of the Marick Group crew, having joined our fearless force in June 2015.

She’s a valuable addition to the team that supports the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (OUSD) Comptroller's Financial Management Certification Program (say that three times fast!). As Business Analyst, Kelly’s job is to manage the help desk activity for the OUSD (C) learning management system, which is used by thousands of government employees on a daily basis.

Kelly may soon be spreading her wings to help support FAA with various Marick projects – and it could not be a more perfect fit for her background (you’ll see why if you keep reading…).

Taking Flight

Prior to joining Marick Group, Kelly did contract work for FAA, which is where she crossed paths with Marick, who was working on an LMS project for the Air Traffic Organization (ATO) arm of FAA. Kelly was quite impressed with the work that Marick provided and when the opportunity presented itself, she decided to join their team.

Kelly’s responsibilities at Northwest were impressive. She was responsible for instructing pilots and other airline employees about systems and procedures for the Boeing 747 fleet – often known by its nicknames “Jumbo Jet” or “Queen of the Skies”.

Prior to her time with FAA, Kelly worked for several years as a flight instructor for Northwest Airlines (now Delta Airlines). The job opened her to the world of learning management, as she created eLearning courses for airline employees. Kelly’s responsibilities at Northwest were impressive. She was responsible for instructing pilots and other airline employees about systems and procedures for the Boeing 747 fleet – often known by its nicknames “Jumbo Jet” or “Queen of the Skies”. So next time you’re flying Delta, your pilot might have been trained by our very own Kelly!

Anytime, Anywhere

So how has the learning management world changed in recent years? Kelly is amazed at how easy it now is for employees of most organizations to experience learning – they can participate from their work office, from home, or from just about anywhere in the world – and at any time. And the ability to manage employee training from anywhere is also something that Kelly appreciates.

There's no I in Team

Kelly loves the team mindset at Marick Group and applauds the fact that everyone is always ready to share knowledge and lend a hand – just like one big family (cue the Sister Sledge music). The size of the Marick team also makes them nimble and efficient enough to help one another for the good of their clients. She says they were a great service provider back in her FAA contractor days, and now they’re a great employer.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

It’s a good thing that Kelly accrued some serious airline miles during her tenure at Northwest. She and her family enjoy traveling and splitting their time between sunny Florida and chilly Minnesota, her home state. We can only hope the winter months are spent closer to Mickey Mouse and Disney World than to the Minnesota Vikings stadium.
