Business Analyst/Learning Management System Customer Support Specialist

This position requires travel within the DC Metro area ~1-2 days per week with the remaining days spent telecommuting.

Your success in this position will require that you:

  • Research, analyze, and interpret data.
  • Prepare written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically      correct, effective, and professional.
  • Apply feedback received to day-to-day work and strives to improve performance.
  • Adhere to project standards defined by project management.
  • Analyze Tier 1 issues to determine patterns, sharing patterns with team, and working to create a resolution.
  • Answer Tier 1 help desk tickets.
  • Escalate tickets appropriately to Tier 2 and to the client’s IT department.
  • Appreciate each team member's contributions and values each individual member.
  • Assist in the collection and consolidation of required information and data.
  • Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts verbally.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in day-to-day work.

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree and 1 to 3 years of experience; preferably with a focus on organization development, customer service, and learning management systems
  • Expertise in customer service
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team player who can easily adapt in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite      
  • Understand basic Internet and software applications
  • Understand project plans and clearly articulates roles, project goals, and timelines
  • Understand the professional development process and becoming actively involved by setting challenging goals and meeting them through continuous learning
  • Knowledge of learning management systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of Blackboard is a plus
  • US citizenship required

Senior Database Engineer

As a Senior Database Engineer, you will work directly with our clients and related teams to design and develop complex SQL queries and procedures used to support data warehousing and data transformation needs. In addition, you may be required to design and deploy a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) to support client data integration. Also, in support of our clients, you will be looked upon as a knowledgeable resource in the development of CSV, HTML, and PDF reports. Experience with the SAP SuccessFactors Learning (formerly Plateau) data model is highly desired.

General Responsibilities:

  • Technical
    • Design and develop Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to include:
      • RDBMS design and development
      • SQL query and development
    • Report Development
      • Design and develop CSV, HTML, and PDF reports utilizing Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT) or Plateau Report Designer (PRD), SQL queries, and XML
  • Other
    • Direct and monitor all activities from initiation to delivery - accountable for overall performance and delivery of defined scope(s) of work
    • Serve as primary customer contact
    • Manage and prioritize tasking originating from multiple customers
    • Facilitate client meetings, set and manage expectations on multiple projects
    • Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation and governance needed by the client
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and work as a liaison between the client, other contractors, and vendors.

Required Skills:

  • Technical
    • 4-6 years of technical consulting experience
    • RDBMS design and deployment experience – Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
    • Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and procedures
    • AGILE Software Development
    • Test Case Design and Development
    • Strong knowledge and experience in data modeling, database design, optimization for performance, SQL, stored procedures
    • Familiar with application servers (IIS, Weblogic, Apache HTTPD, Apache Tomcat)
    • UNIX / Linux – shell scripting/cron
    • Data migration planning and validation
    • Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools (i.e. Pentaho, custom scripts, etc.)
  • Other
    • Ability to work with limited supervision
    • Must have excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Expertise in understanding complex business needs, analyzing, designing and developing solutions

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Learning (formerly Plateau) data model/schema
  • Single Sign-On - SAML 2.0
  • Eclipse BIRT or PRD report development tools 

Travel: 25% or less

Location: Washington DC Metro

This position is a remote position, working from home/co-working space with occasional onsite meetings at the client sites.
